For such owners, our "Low Down Spring" has both style and ride quality.
The point of development is the setting that considers the mass production damper to be combined.Since the specifications on the damper side cannot be changed, everything is left to the design of the spring.For example, if the vehicle height is lowered, the center of gravity of the car will be lowered and the exercise performance will be improved, but if it is lowered too much, the distance between the center of gravity and the roll center will increase and the roll amount will increase (Fig. A).On the contrary, if the amount of down is minimized, no change in styling can be felt.In addition, since the vehicle height is lower than in mass production, the effective stroke amount of the damper is reduced, so the range of use of the bump stopper that functions as a part of the spring increases.Therefore, it is necessary to carefully set the spring and bump stopper in combination (Fig. B).Not too low, not too hard ... The specifications we have calculated from theory and experience vary depending on the model, but the vehicle height is basically -20mm.The spring constant is calculated based on the unique damping ratio (balance between spring constant and damping force), and realizes natural handling without a sudden feeling.If you want a more natural ride, we recommend using it with the adjustable stabilizer link that corrects the arm angle of the stabilizer when the vehicle height is down.

Theoretically, lowering the vehicle height lowers the center of gravity of the car and improves kinetic performance, but lowering the vehicle height lowers the center point of the roll beyond the center of gravity, so the distance between the center of gravity and the center point of the roll is long. Become.If the same centrifugal force (green arrow) is applied in cornering, the force to roll = roll moment increases in proportion to the distance, so the amount of roll increases as the vehicle height decreases.In addition, the stroke amount of the suspension is determined by the damper, so if the vehicle height is lowered too much, it will bottom out due to insufficient stroke.

The stroke amount of the damper has "(XNUMX) the area that only the spring is in charge of" and "(XNUMX) the area of the spring + bump stopper".As the roll progresses and strokes, it shifts from ① to ②, but with low-down springs, which have a smaller stroke amount than mass-produced springs, there is less change in the spring constant when moving from ① to ② than in mass production specifications, and the transition is smooth.
