Rough road performance and street maneuverability.
Reliable, no matter where you goexist.
Driving can be enjoyable in any situation. Paved roads aren't the only stage for driving. The name "CX" itself signifies a fusion of crossover and sports. Because Mazda vehicles possess elegant and high-quality design, we wanted to achieve a balance of off-road and sports performance befitting that name. Of course, the mass-produced version already possesses these qualities. However, for drivers who are particular about driving, there should be even more potential to be unlocked. This off-road suspension kit was created to unleash that potential.
The goal isn't to achieve performance in extreme conditions like rallying or cross-country racing, but rather to gain the "confidence" to effortlessly navigate rough roads and winding paths. It's a proposal for an active cross-sport vehicle that makes the vast open spaces its ally.
The fundamental concept is our "Street Sport Suspension Kit," which pursues the best possible ride quality. It's a philosophy of pursuing driving performance without compromising comfort. Based on that sporty handling, we added adaptability to rough roads and aimed for handling that synchronizes with your senses even in constantly changing road conditions.
Specifically, the combination of mass-produced twin-tube dampers, which excel at damping force build-up from very low speeds, and special springs that raise the vehicle height by approximately 25mm, balances off-road performance and maneuverability. Furthermore, the rear is equipped with a damping force adjustment mechanism, which flexibly accommodates changes in load weight. Also, a special stabilizer link is standard equipment that corrects changes in the suspension arm angle caused by raising the vehicle height, making full use of the benefits of an integrated damper and spring design.
The first version will be for the CX-5 (KF), with plans to expand the lineup. On and off-road, it's at your fingertips. Unleash your adventurous spirit beyond the break in the pavement.

High-precision twin-tube damper
It employs a high-precision twin-tube design that is highly resistant to external damage. To suppress changes in posture, the rebound damping force is set to 110% of the mass-produced version. In addition to strengthening the spring constant, the compression damping force, which causes harshness, is reduced to 90%. By maintaining the total damping force, the balance of the ride quality is preserved.
* The values shown are based on design concepts and may differ from actual measured values.

[Front] Fixed damping force
The front, which has a heavy axle load and little weight change, uses a fixed damping force system. Because the piston structure is simple, the damping force rises suddenly from very low speeds of 0.05 m/sec or less, ensuring quick response to steering operations.

[Rear] Adjustable damping force
The rear, which experiences large changes in axle load, employs an adjustable damping force system, allowing the optimum damping ratio to be selected according to changes in vehicle weight of several hundred kilograms, making it suitable for a variety of environments.
(For street riding with two passengers, the recommended setting is level 8.)

Dedicated spring
The coarse-wound springs, designed to accommodate mass-produced upper mounts, offer a balance of off-road capability and stability. The ride height is increased by 25mm, taking into account weight changes when the vehicle is loaded. To suppress the resulting increase in body roll, the spring constant has been appropriately increased.

Utilizing mass-produced upper mounts
The mass-produced rubber upper mounts, which are advantageous in terms of NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness), are used as they are, and passenger comfort is also taken into consideration.
* Upper mounts are not included with the product.

Dedicated stabilizer link
The arm angle, which becomes misaligned when the vehicle height is increased, is corrected by adjusting the link length. By returning it to the angle for mass-produced vehicle height, the original function of the stabilizer is restored. The link length is shortened for the front, where the fulcrum of the link is upward, and longer for the rear, where the fulcrum is downward.
[Image of changes due to damping force adjustment]
The figure conceptually shows the difference in displacement due to damping force adjustment in the form of a waveform.
It visualizes the differences in convergence speed and remaining fluctuations in response to input.
The higher the damping ratio*, the faster the vibrations subside, resulting in a firmer ride. Conversely, the lower the ratio, the more supple the movement, and the overall impression of the ride comfort changes.
*The ratio of the damper's damping force to the critical damping force (the minimum damping force that determines whether or not the spring vibrates).
[Damping force comparison and adjustment range]
The damping force characteristics of this kit are compared with those of the mass-produced product, and the 14-stage adjustment range for the rear is illustrated in a line graph.
The damping force can be adjusted according to the axle load, which varies greatly depending on the load and number of passengers, and road conditions.
We hope you will explore what is best for you in various situations.
[High-limit off-road testing]
Tests were conducted on flat dirt and rough paved roads as well as on road surfaces with high inputs.
We drive the vehicle at its highest limits in environments beyond our expectations, and verify the changes in behavior when the suspension capacity and limits are exceeded.
We identify the "margin of error" that is often overlooked in everyday use and incorporate it into the settings.
